Getting Started With Microcomputers, the Internet, and Digital Photography

Abstract :

This session will show how you calibrate and profile your computer monitor, so that you can more clearly see what is in your digital photo files. This demo and discussion will present an important part of a fully color managed digital photography work flow.

Bio :

Thomas Brown has a BS from Ithaca College in "Applied Audio, Visual Performing Arts" and a M.S. in Information Resources Management from Syracuse University. He has been making photographs for more than 25 years. For the past 20 years he has helped individuals, and organizations like the McCarter Theater, Bristol-Myers Squibb, and R. R. Bowker & Sons to get the best out of their personal computers. He hopes to help you do the same.

Advances in Digital Photography

Abstract :

This talk will provide an introduction to Photoshop. It will provide details of the added features in Photoshop CS2, as vanishing point and bridge. Details of basic photo editing and painting and some of the advance features as layers and shortcuts will also be covered.

Bio :

Shabbir Moochalla is a past chairman of the Princeton Central Jersey Section of the IEEE and works as an electrical engineer in the space industry. Besides an interest in computers, he is highly involved with Photography both as an amateur and professionally in a part-time business.

Eva Kaplan, Computers + Kids Camp/Pennington Computer School

Abstract :

Just when you thought Eva couldn't top her previous talks - she's uncovered a treasure chest of new search engines and websites to share with all TCF attendees, educators, and seniors. Eva will be demonstrating great robots, and speaking on early to current films about computers and robots that are available on VHS or DVD or coming to local theatres. Bet you might not have heard about one film from the international film festivals - the still highly acclaimed "The Decalogue." Complete resource handouts will be available only at the seminar.

Bio :

Founded 26 years ago, Eva still makes certain Computers + Kids Summer Camp has the most individualized and comprehensive program for computers and technology. Science and Computers at Home

Abstract :

Like science and computers? There is a range of science that can be done on your home computer. You can use your computer to enhance your science knowledge though various Internet sites. You can look at the latest science discoveries and see some science making history in real-time and you can even make real discoveries using data that has been gathered and put on on-line. Even if you want to do your own experiments, the computer and the Internet are invaluable tools for controlling, capturing and disseminating that information. To illustrate some of the science resources found on the Internet there will be a 3D science slide show.

Bio :

Mark Streitman is an Engineer and amateur scientist who is the President of the New Jersey Chapter of The Society for Amateur Scientists. He has done many of his own experiments over the years and fell in love with science from watching the Space Program in the 1960?s. He has created the world?s first Portable Foucault Pendulum for purchase and has a degree in Physics from Rutgers.

This talk will demonstrate the ease of refilling a laser printer cartridge and the resulting savings achieved. Irene Weissman will distribute a list of toner suppliers.

Irene Weissman has been a member of NYACC for 20 years, on the Board of Directors, a former vice-president; President of Creative Computer Club (a Learning Sig.), a public relations executive and a financial reporter for Reuters America.
