Just-in-Time - Computer Training on the Clock

Abstract :
This presentation will review the time-tested foundations of efficient and effective computer training. Aimed specifically at the growing trend of brief "just-in-time" training, it will cover how to adapt sound principles to short classes and informal "over the shoulder" training. It is appropriate for both new and experienced trainers, as well as professionals expected to provide training without formal experience.

Great Photos Printing, through Color Management Workshop

Abstract :
Your pictures look like works of art, on your camera's LCD. After some work, they look even better on your computer?s monitor. But, when you print your images, on an inkjet printer, your colors don?t look quite right. In fact, sometimes they look horrible! If this is your situation, the first 50 minutes of this lecture will provide an overview to digital color management. Thomas will discuss the value of calibrating and profiling monitors and printers. And you will learn some guidelines for matching papers, printer and inks. During the second half, he will demonstrate the use of tools for calibrating and profiling printers and monitors, and provide instructions on configuring Photoshop to use Color Management. Thomas will start you on the road to creating custom ICC profiles that will make your images look like works of art.
Bio :
Thomas Brown has a BS from Ithaca College in "Applied Audio, Visual Performing Arts" and a M.S. in Information Resources Management from Syracuse University. He has been making photographs for more than 25 years. For the past 20 years he has helped individuals, and organizations like the McCarter Theater, Bristol-Myers Squibb, and R. R. Bowker & Sons to get the best out of their personal computers. He hopes to help you do the same.

Abstract :
Albums are not just for Weddings. Albums can be created for family portraits, vacation photos, or just photo collections (say, landscapes) and so on. To create a professional looking photo album, easily, using Photoshop the following will be discussed: Layers, Blending of Layers, Color Borders around photos, Text Effects, and Transform commands.

Shabbir Moochalla is a past chairman of the Princeton Central Jersey Section of the IEEE and works as an electrical engineer in the space industry. Besides an interest in computers, he is highly involved with Photography both as an amateur and professionally in a part-time business.

Buying a Digital Camera

Abstract :
The goal of this open forum is to help TCF 2006 attendees buy their first, second, etc. digital camera. The decision making process of purchasing a digital camera is based on a series of varying personal need evaluation techniques and purchasing tricks that will lead you to a "hopefully" good digital imaging purchase and experience. The discussion will consist of mostly an extended Q&A, with possible "stop by" visits by Manufacturer Reps.

Jacob Freedman for 30 years has an employment background in computer/consumer electronics sales and customer/technical support. He has worked with varying types of computing and imaging devices and is the web master of the New Jersey Subject Catalog. He is the former SIG coordinator for the South Jersey Apple/Mac User Group (SJAUG) and a newly hired field representative of Creative Channel Solutions (CCS).
